The Lotus Exige is a track junkie's dream come true - providing breathtaking speed and unmatched dynamic handling. However, it is not steep hiking and luxury, making it less suitable for everyday use than some of its rivals.

Demands of 2009 is designed for one thing - performance. In fact, almost every aspect of it was designed with performance in mind. If you can understand that you will not mind its low density of the cabin, renouncing luxury and comfort to save weight. Disappointing? Maybe. But in the end, it is useful. In fact, Autobytel says: "Flamboyant and fun, basic and effective, there are few cars on the market built strictly at the joy of driving. The Lotus Exige S is one of the few, of the objective of building cars that are a thrill behind the wheel rather than a chore. We need more cars like this. "

If you're in the market for a track of the beast with a machine, but can not stomach the price of heavy demand, consider a Honda S2000 Club Racer. It's not as attractive as the Exige, but offers amazing performance for an affordable price. In addition, it has a removable hardtop aluminum - which provides relief on hot days at the beach.

The Exige'09 is available in two finishes, S and S 240. Both feature a 1.8-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine.

Lotus M250 Concept

Unfortunately, the Lotus M250 never reached production. It was concieved as a model to fit in the range between the Lotus Elise and Esprit. The draft for the M250 engine and probably the source of the'250 'of the element's name, was 250 horsepower, 3.0 liter, mid-mounted V6.

The original idea for the M250 is to give the car "comfort", such as air conditioning, central locking and electric windows - Lotus generally fail of their products to reduce weight.

It was found that the M250 has been shelved when Lotus decided that the car was not good for the world market. Fortunatley the spirit of the M250 is still living in vehicles like the Lotus Exige and later, Europe. Although Europe is much less attractive than the M250.

BMW M6 on the road front

The new BMW M6 concept made its debut at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It is based on the BMW E63/E64 6-Series, introduced in 2004. It shares the same 5.0 L V10 S85 engine and SMG III gearbox with the E60 M5, and produces 507PS / 500 bhp (370 kW) / 384 ft·lbf (521 Nm).

The M6 has the same 'power button' as the M5 which modifies the throttle response. From ignition, the car delivers 399 bhp (298 kW), but engaging the button allows the full 500 hp (370 kW) in the US (507 PS in Europe). It weighs 3,770 lb (1,710 kg) thanks to a carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof panel as well as thermoplastic front wings, aluminium doors and bonnet (hood) and compound boot (trunk) lid.

The carbon fibre and other light materials are used in places like the bumpers and roof that are far from the centre of gravity and/or high up, so that they not only reduce the overall weight but improve the handling by reducing, respectively, the moment of inertia and the center of mass height.

BMW claims it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds (0-60 mph: 4.1 s [Road & Track [2/06]) and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). With the limiter removed, the top speed can reach 330 km/h (205 mph).
